Ranking and why
#1Synthesia

#2HeyGen
Score 78 out of 100
Very close. Ease is scored a bit higher. The affiliate claim from third parties is ignored, so it does not help or hurt the score.

#3Descript
Score 67 out of 100
Included so you do not buy an avatar tool to do an edit. Value is neutral because the monthly versus annual price is TODO.
Descript’s page shows $16 and $24 and does not label monthly versus annual. Value stays a neutral 50 until one checkout price is confirmed.

If you already pay
Descript can generate an avatar, according to its own plan copy, but it is an editor. Do not cancel a Synthesia or HeyGen seat you rely on for training videos just because Descript is in the stack.
Not in the score
Not scored yet: Colossyan, D-ID, and Tavus. HeyGen’s affiliate program is unconfirmed, so there is no affiliate link.
Sponsored placement
This slot is empty. It is labeled so it cannot be confused with the ranking. Buying it does not change a score.

Every tool on this page will get these same inputs. The suite has not been run, so there are no saved outputs. Quality scores stay editorial until that changes.
TODO- Turn a 200-word policy into a talking-head video with captions.
- Swap the avatar and keep the same script and framing.
- Translate the same video into Spanish and keep the timing.
- Export a 1080p file without a trial watermark.
- Update one sentence and regenerate only that scene.

Questions
Synthesia or HeyGen?
Synthesia leads this baseline by a small margin for training video. HeyGen is the alternative when the clip should feel more like a presenter. Watch both on your own script. That test is TODO.
Why are the prices the same and the scores different?
Both list $29. The gap is task quality, ease, and ecosystem, all still editorial. Value does not separate them.
Does HeyGen’s rumored affiliate rate matter?
No. It is unconfirmed and it is not a score input. There is no HeyGen affiliate link on this site.
Is Descript an avatar tool?
It can generate avatars, per its pricing copy, and it loses this task because the job is a presenter video, not an edit.
Are annual prices included?
HeyGen’s page states $24 a month when billed annually. Synthesia’s annual figure is TODO. The score uses the $29 monthly entry for both.
