Restricted Google account: appeal the account before the profile

A restricted Google account is not fixed by appealing only the profile. Google says the restriction suspends the profiles that account manages and blocks creating or claiming others. The first step is to appeal the account on the My accounts page. After the restriction is lifted, appeal each profile. Creating a new account to open another profile for the same business goes against the guide.

What an account restriction is

The suspended-profiles guide separates it from the process for a single profile: https://support.google.com/business/answer/4569145?hl=en. If the account violates the policy, the locations on that account are suspended. A restricted manager loses access to the profiles they manage. That does not remove locations owned by other people.

In the appeals tool, a profile may say it cannot be appealed while the account is still restricted. That message is not skipped with a second submission.

To lift the restriction, you can provide a reason and submit an appeal for your account on your My accounts page.

Fix suspended or disabled profiles

Once the account restriction is lifted, to remove the Business Profile suspension, you can submit an appeal for your Business Profile.

The order

Sign in to My accounts with the restricted account and submit the account appeal. You check the status there. Opening five new accounts is not required, and it does not help.

After Google lifts the restriction, open the profile appeals tool and submit one appeal, with the evidence attached through Choose file. https://support.google.com/business/answer/13597551?hl=en

Do not move ownership to an employee to get around the restriction, and do not create another profile in someone else’s name. The guide says not to create a new profile for the same business.

What the file can include

The file separates the two processes: the account first, then the profile, with the letter and the evidence list for the profile. It does not sign in to My accounts or to the profile. You submit both appeals. We do not promise that Google will lift the restriction.

Frequently asked questions

Can I appeal the profile the same day as the account?

The guide says the profile is appealed once the account restriction has been lifted. Sending the profile appeal first does not replace the account appeal.

Does another Gmail account avoid the restriction?

No. Profiles for the same business are not restored by creating a new account, and the guide forbids creating another profile for the same business.

How long does it take?

The profile appeals page talks about up to 5 business days for a profile decision. It does not publish a different deadline for the account in that sentence. There is no promised timeline.
