Google Business Profile keeps getting suspended again

There are public reports of a profile that is suspended, reinstated by Google, and suspended again days later. One example is the post by @Chrismor198 on 20 October 2026. It is not a count, and Google has not published a separate rule for that cycle. The appeal is still one per decision, with the evidence inside it, and the appeals page says a review can take up to 5 business days. Before you appeal the new decision, check the name, the address or service area, duplicates, and the listing text. Google decides whether to restore it.

What is being reported

On 20 October 2026, @Chrismor198 wrote in public: “Is there any way to speak to a human being to fix recurring automated GBP suspensions? Keeps getting suspended, reinstated and then suspended automatically again days later.” https://x.com/Chrismor198/status/2112549407186964805

That is one owner’s report, not a statistic and not a statement from Google. This page does not say how many profiles this happens to, or that Google has confirmed an automatic cycle.

The suspended-profiles guide says, at the end, that if you have issues with a reinstated profile you should contact Google Business Profile Help: https://support.google.com/business/answer/4569145?hl=en. The documented way to ask for a review is still the appeals tool.

Causes that are in the guidelines

These causes can lead to a suspension, including a second one. They are not a diagnosis of that post. The representation guidelines are at https://support.google.com/business/answer/3038177?hl=en.

Name. The guideline asks for the real-world name, the one on the sign, the site, and what customers know. It says: “Including unnecessary information in your business name isn't permitted, and could result in the suspension of your Business Profile.” An extra city, service, hours, or slogan falls under that.

Address and service area. A PO box or a remote mailbox does not count. A virtual office, where you do not operate, is not eligible. If you do not serve customers at the location, hide the address. A service-area business has one profile for the area, not one per neighborhood. https://support.google.com/business/answer/2853879?hl=en https://support.google.com/business/answer/3038163?hl=en

Duplicates. Sign-up says: “Create only one Business Profile for the metropolitan area you serve. Your Google account may be suspended if we find multiple profiles for the same business in the same metropolitan area.” https://support.google.com/business/answer/10514137?hl=en

Listing text since October 2026. The prohibited-content policy, under “For merchants”, says the listing must not contain time-bound promotions, pricing, or direct calls-to-action. Google has not announced an enforcement date. Clean it up as a risk. Do not assume this rule already caused this second suspension. https://support.google.com/business/answer/7400114?hl=en https://www.seroundtable.com/google-maps-policy-listings-or-posts-42228.html

Guidelines for representing your business on Google

If your business rents a physical mailing address but doesn't operate out of that location, also known as a virtual office, that location isn't eligible for a Business Profile.

What not to change right after reinstatement

Some rules are published, and one piece of advice is prudent without being a Google rule. The verification page says: “If you’re asked to provide additional info to re-verify your profile, it’s likely because some of your business details were recently updated.” https://support.google.com/business/answer/7107242?hl=en

Published rules. Do not create another profile for the same business. Do not send another appeal of the same issue before the decision: the appeals page says a review can take up to 5 business days. If you requested a postcard and the code is on the way, do not edit the name, the address, or the category, because that code stops working. That ban is for the postcard wait, not for every reinstatement.

Prudent advice, not a published rule. If the profile already matches the guidelines when Google restores it, do not change the name, the address, the category, or the phone that same day. A recent change is the case in which Google says it may ask for more information to re-verify. If a field does not comply, fix it before you appeal the new decision. Do not leave it wrong so that you “touch nothing”.

If you’re asked to provide additional info to re-verify your profile, it’s likely because some of your business details were recently updated.

When to appeal again

The suspension help says: “Appeals can only be submitted once.” Evidence is attached there, with Choose file. https://support.google.com/business/answer/4569145?hl=en https://support.google.com/business/answer/13597551?hl=en

If the current decision is still under review, wait. Do not send another appeal of the same issue. The timeline the appeals page publishes is up to 5 business days. It is not a promise of reinstatement.

If reinstatement is denied, the suspension guide describes an additional review, only then, with evidence that was not in the first one. It is not a second appeal running at the same time.

If the profile comes back and another suspension appears later, that is a different decision. Open the tool, choose that decision, and read whether it can be appealed. If it says yes, fix what conflicts with the guidelines first and submit one appeal of that decision, with the evidence inside it.

If the Google account is restricted, appeal the account on My accounts first. After that restriction is lifted, appeal the profile. https://support.google.com/business/answer/4569145?hl=en

The Rescate file puts that appeal in order. You submit it. Nobody signs in to the account. Google decides.

Frequently asked questions

Has Google confirmed that the second suspension is an automatic error?

Not on the help pages cited here. The 20 October post describes that cycle and asks to speak with a person. It is a report, not a count and not an admission from Google.

Do I appeal again the same day?

No, if it is the same decision and there is no answer yet. The appeals page says not to submit multiple appeals for the same issue before the decision, and that it can take up to 5 business days. A new suspension, after reinstatement, is a different decision: appeal it once, if the tool says it can be appealed.

Can I edit the name as soon as they restore it?

If the name is already the one on the sign, the prudent advice is not to change it that day. That is not a published ban on every reinstatement. Editing the name, address, or category is forbidden while you wait for a postcard code. If the name still has an extra city or service, fix it before you appeal the new decision.

Does the October rule explain the second suspension?

Google has not said so. The policy already says the listing must not contain time-bound promotions, pricing, or calls-to-action, and it has not announced an enforcement date. Remove them as a risk, not as the confirmed cause.
